KIC's MB Allen to Discuss Smart Reflow Ovens for the Industry 4.0 Factory
October 6, 2017 | KICEstimated reading time: 1 minute
KIC announces that MB (Marybeth) Allen will present at the SMTA New England Expo & Tech Forum, scheduled to take place Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Maryland. Allen will present a report titled "The Smart Reflow Oven for the Industry 4.0 Factory."
The reflow oven is often considered the black box in the electronic assembly factory. As the industry is trending towards the smart factory to reduce cost of manufacturing while providing consistent quality and new capabilities such as full process traceability, the reflow oven is undergoing a dramatic transformation. Key elements include:
- Factory level connectivity of both the machine (oven), and the thermal process (every PCB profile relative to process window)
- Real-time process transparency
- Fluid changeover
- Process traceability
- Extreme level of automation
- Machine learning
This presentation will cover the elements of the smart oven and the technical and business (revenue and profit) impact on the factory. Additionally, it will address the critical question of new oven investment versus retrofitable technologies.
Allen is the Product Manager for KIC. As such she coordinates the advancement of new products and features to accommodate customer needs as KIC adds to its portfolio for the electronics and solar industries. Her technical expertise, relationships with valued partners and customers, and many years of sales experience aid KIC in the future development, improvement and sales of the company's product offerings. MB has worked in the electronics industry for more than 27 years and been associated with KIC for more than 25 years.
