Arrow Electronics Launches “Internet of Things” Boot Camp
July 23, 2015 | Business WireEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Arrow Electronics, Inc. today announced it is collaborating with Skookum Digital Works to offer the “Innovation Launch Pad,” a five-day, immersive-learning “boot camp” for companies looking to bring innovative and profitable “Internet of Things” (IoT) ideas to market.
“IoT is poised to disrupt entire business models and industries, but companies looking to bring innovative new IoT technologies to market face a number of complex challenges,” said Aiden Mitchell, vice president of semiconductor marketing for Arrow. “As a top technology-solutions provider, Arrow is excited to collaborate with Skookum on this boot camp to help our customers stay ahead of the innovation curve and profit from the tremendous opportunities IoT presents.”
Arrow’s Innovation Launch Pads are designed to help participants move from ideation to creation—leaving them with a tangible proof-of-concept, prototype, demonstration or business plan for IoT technology at the end of five days. Launch Pad participants will have access to best-in-class Arrow design engineers and Skookum’s team of innovative developers, hardware hackers and product designers as they move through a focused experimentation process.
“Skookum’s proven model empowers companies to embrace the innovation process,” said Josh Oakhurst, Skookum’s chief strategy officer. “We give companies a chance to compress months of experimentation and ideation into one short, intensely productive week.”
Companies looking for additional information, or to book an Innovation Launch Pad, are encouraged to contact their local Arrow sales office.
Internet of Things refers to the concept of connecting any device with an on/off switch to the Internet. Gartner predicts that by 2020 there will be over 26 billion connected devices. Semiconductor market research firm IC Insights expects revenues for network communications, sensing, and control functions in devices attached to the IoT will grow 29 percent in 2015 to $62 billion, after increasing 21 percent in 2014 to over $48 billion.
