WestDev Ltd., the EDA company delivering technology-leading PCB design solutions, has named SouthCom Technologies the winner of its Distributor of the Year award.

SouthCom Technologies’ development and growth of Pulsonix in the North American market since their introduction in 2012 has brought a significant sales and service representation not previously seen for the product range.

“Since the appointment of SouthCom in North America three years ago, we have seen exponential growth in North America. Year-on-year sales have accelerated beyond our expectations as more and more engineers come into contact with Pulsonix,” said Marketing Director Bob Williams. “We attribute this to the hard effort from those both at SouthCom Technologies and at the Pulsonix development HQ in the United Kingdom. We are at a stage now where we have a synergistic process between SouthCom Technologies and those within Pulsonix, I believe this is truly benefiting our North American customers. They are seeing the true benefits of Pulsonix, and this is not just down to the software itself, it’s the people within the company. Together with SouthCom, we are bringing ourselves closer to the end user, listening to them and acting on their suggestions straight away.”

Jim Southward, founder and CEO of SouthCom Technologies, commented, “Sales have grown significantly for us in North America. Pulsonix fits well in the market with its very attractive price to performance ratio. Our working methodologies and practices along with extensive knowledge of the EDA market have enabled us to penetrate into North America with significant success. Our ethos of providing high quality solutions, be they products or services has been recognised with this award from WestDev.”

Sensible Design: Casting a Spotlight on Resin Applications

05/03/2017 | Alistair Little, Electrolube
Over the last few columns, I’ve given readers pointers on virtually every aspect of potting and encapsulation resins, ranging from their formulations and special properties to their applications, benefits and limitations. It’s probably high time, therefore, to take a step back from the do's and don’ts and focus instead on how these resins are bringing very real benefits to practical electronic and electrical engineering applications. A good starting point is to look at the special requirements of an industry that is enjoying explosive growth: LED lighting.

Beyond Design: The Need for Speed—Strategies for Design Efficiency

05/02/2016 | Barry Olney, In-Circuit Design
Years of experience with one EDA tool obviously develops efficiency, whether the tool be high-end feature-packed or basic entry-level. And one becomes accustomed to the intricacies of all the good and bad features of their PCB design tool. However, there comes a time when one should really consider a change for the better to incorporate the latest methodologies. This month, I will look at productivity issues that impede the PCB design process.

DownStream Takes on Data Documentation Management

12/21/2015 | Andy Shaughnessy, PCB Design007
Most designers will tell you that, as much as they enjoy laying out boards, they dislike the final data documentation step, which often involves various formats, including handwritten notes. Enter DownStream Technologies, a company founded 14 years ago to address the challenges related to post-processing the design. Senior Product Marketing Manager Mark Gallant recently discussed the company’s efforts to take the pain out of data documentation, even as data becomes more complex.
