CPES2015 Shaping Up to be Biggest Event Yet

The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association, the united voice of Canada’s Printable Electronics sector, has assembled a broad and diverse roster of speakers for the 2015 Canadian Printable Electronics Symposium (CPES2015).

CPES2015 is the only event of its kind in Canada where CPEIA Members, Canadian and international industry players can learn about Printable and Organic Electronics technologies, real-world applications, and the cutting-edge research that is defining the future of this emerging sector. It will showcase the convergence of research and development, industry expertise, commercial effort and government support that gives Canada a tremendous opportunity in an explosive global market.

A speaker lineup that spans the industry and the globe

CPES2015 has doubled from last year’s event, both in terms of its program and its audience. Our keynotes, announced last week, include:

Dr. Stephen Hoover, CEO, PARC, a Xerox Company. He will discuss the Business of Breakthroughs.

Jennifer Ernst, Chief Strategy Officer Thin Film Electronics ASA. Ms. Ernst leads strategic roadmap and partnership development activities at Thin Film. She will discuss the Internet of Things.

Bernard Kippelen, Joseph M. Pettit Professor, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Georgia Institute of Technology, United States. Professor Kippelen is a distinguished researcher in printable and organic electronics. He will discuss recent progress in a range of solid-state devices and show how these advances can lead to disruptive innovations to address some of the world’s greatest challenges.

Professor Gyoujin Cho, Sunchon National University, South Korea. Professor Cho is a faculty member of the Department of Printed Electronics Engineering, World Class University Program. He will present fully roll-to-roll (R2R) gravure printed TFT backplanes for signage and sensors.

Barbara M. Fisher, Regional Manager, North America, the Organic and Printed Electronics Association (OE-A). International. Ms. Fisher will present Mapping out the Future -- The OE-A Roadmap for Organic and Printed Electronics. This is a biannual overview of current and future applications in organic and printed electronics.

In addition, attendees will see a wide range of presentations that address market verticals such as health, aerospace and defence, packaging, wireless communications, consumer electronics and photovoltaics.

These will feature major multinational and international companies that are heavily invested in developing the next-generation processes, materials and equipment vital to the growth of the global industry, such as FUJIFILM Dimatix, NovaCentrix and Arjo Wiggins Creative Papers from the U.S.

A number of innovative small and medium-sized Canadian companies that are defining the future of Printable and Organic Electronics will showcase their latest developments. These include NanoXplore, international award-winning Raymor Industries of Quebec, and Vancouver’s EPIC Semiconductor and Tangio Printed Electronics.

CPES 2015 has also drawn presentations from a wide range of universities across Canada, such as McGill University, University of Quebec, Laval University, University of Waterloo and the University of Alberta. Canada’s top public sector organizations in Printable and Organic Electronics development and commercialization are also making presentations, including the National Research Council of Canada and CMC Microsystems.

CPES2015 will also feature a financing panel: “OE/PE Based Ventures: Challenges & Opportunities,” that will focus on angel financing, venture capital, government programs and growth financing.

For CPEIA Members, CPES2015 also includes the Association’s first Annual General Meeting, in the evening on April 21.

Over two information-packed days, 120+ attendees will have the opportunity to learn, network and develop partnerships for collaboration and business development. CPES2015 runs April 21-22 in Montreal.

The CPES2015 agenda includes five keynote presentations, 30 in-depth presentations by industry experts and leading Canadian researchers, a finance panel session, and 15 academic posters from leading Canadian principal investigators and their teams. Ten organizations will also have the opportunity for up to five targeted meetings each with key academic, government, industry and investor contacts.
