Quadra Solutions have this month been named as the sole UK provider of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Training Course, Certified Interconnect Designer (CID). The qualification, accredited by the IPC, the association representing the global electronics industry, is to be delivered by Quadra’s highly skilled and experienced trainers at their specialist training facility in Lancashire. This world-leading training programme seeks to enhance and improve the skills of individuals operating within the electronic design industry.

The CID and CID+ professional development programmes provide delegates with the foundations of electronic design decision-making and the practical application of IPC standards for the design and manufacture of PCB. The course not only covers the fundamentals of component placement and track routing, but also provides a wider understanding of all the various elements of PCB development, including design considerations, layout principles and component, assembly and manufacturability issues.

CID certification specifically caters to PCB design professionals who would benefit from the recognition of their skills, enhancement of their knowledge and confirmation that their designs comply with accepted international IPC standards. Many delegates undertaking this course have many years of experience within the PCB industry, with many being self-taught. The qualification is not restricted to specific software users and can be applied to a range of specialisms within the PCB and electronic design industry.

The course is not just suitable for those undertaking regular PCB design projects. It is also beneficial for anyone involved in the development, design, procurement, quality and fabrication of PCBs. More and more companies expect electronic engineers to be trained to this level and this professional development qualification ensures a level of efficiency, effectiveness and quality that is apparent within all design work. The course is also beneficial for businesses looking to promote themselves as compliant with IPC standards.

Stephen Dobson, Managing Director at Quadra Solutions says,

“We are proud to be announced as a certified IPC Training Centre and to be at the forefront of enhancing and improving the quality of electronic design in the UK. When undertaking PCB design work many of our customers have stated that the design engineer must be qualified to CID level and we are delighted to be working with IPC in delivering this important professional development qualification.”

Quadra Solutions Ltd house one of the largest Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Bureaus in the UK supporting local, national and international companies with a vast range of PCB design services. The intensive CID and CID+ programmes demonstrate a real commitment to excellence and offer delegates the opportunity to further develop and enhance their skills, while also ensuring and confirming the quality of the design work being undertaken.

The 23rd annual IEEE International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME) was held in Constanta, Romania, in October 2017. It attracted more than 190 participants from Romania, and 13 other counties. While there might be some who question the suitability of Romania as a venue for such a conference, the country has a long technological history and has produced some top innovators and pioneers in aviation including Aurel Vlaicu, Traian Vuia, Henri Coanda, who prototyped an early jet aircraft in 1910.

Zuken Teams With Nano Dimension for 3D Printing Design Flow

11/25/2017 | Andy Shaughnessy, PCB Design007
At PCB West, Zuken shared a booth with Nano Dimension. Zuken has been working with Nano Dimension for some time, and adding support for 3D printing and nanotechnology to its design tool platforms. I sat down with Zuken’s Humair Mandavia and Nano Dimension’s Simon Fried to learn more about this alliance, and to find out more about this odd-looking box being demonstrated in Zuken’s booth.
